CountryMark Fuels have been helping Ceres Solutions’ customers run successful businesses and homes, and they’re proud to introduces a new fuel that is good for the environment and good for the economy.
E85 is now being offered at the Crawfordsville branch of Ceres Solutions. E85 is a blend of 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline. Ethanol burns cleaner than gasoline and is completely renewable. More than half of US oil in imported, causing Americans to be dependent on foreign economies. By supporting the production and use of ethanol and ethanol based fuels, such as E85, we can lower that dependency.
Because ethanol burns cleaner than gasoline, using ethanol will reduce pollution. Studies have shown that E85 reduces harmful hydrocarbon and benzene emissions. E85 also reduces carbon dioxide which is a major contributor to global warming.
Ethanol is produced by the fermentation of plant sugars, typically found in corn and other grain products. Because of this, E85 has a higher octane level but costs roughly the same as unleaded gasoline. It also maintains a cooler temperature helping engine longevity.
Ceres Solutions reminds drivers that E85 can only be used in Flex Fuel Vehicles. FFVs have specially designed engines that automatically adjust to run on 100% gasoline, or any ethanol-enriched fuel up to E85. To determine if a vehicle is an FFV, check the owner’s manual, the gas cap or go online.
