Ceres Solutions Teams with Local Farmer to Feed Hungry

With the population growing and the amount of farm land shrinking, people always seem to ask: What can I do to help? Well one Indiana farmer didn’t just ask, he jumped right in to working towards feeding the worlds hungry.
Bob Hall, of Remington, raised 45 acres of soybeans this year, using the profits to benefit those who are in need. It all began one evening at a meeting where Hall listened to a guest speaker from the Foods Resource Bank and decided to act.
“Everybody wants to do something and this really sparked my interest,” Hall said.
According to their website, the Foods Resource Bank is a Christian based organization that seeks to alleviate hunger throughout the world by working to establish food security through sustainable development activities. Hall explained how the Foods Bank uses the donations from producers and agri-business people, as well as churches and community organizations, to teach people how to effectively produce food where they live in order to sustain their food needs.
Hall decided to donate his time, equipment, and land to produce soybeans, the profits from the crop would go directly to the Foods Resource Bank. In order to fulfill his goal; however, Hall needed help. That’s when he turned to Ceres Solutions.
“Without Ceres Solutions and their partnerships with Land O Lakes and Winfield Solutions, there is no way I could have done this,” Hall stated.
Ceres Solutions helped furnish the seed, chemicals, and fertilizer with help from their partner companies to ensure that Hall could reach his goal of 45 acres.
“It makes it so much easier to be able to go through one ag dealer,” said Hall.
Hall looks forward to doing this again next year. He has done this project for the last eight years. He started with only seven acres and continues to grow. This year, with the help of Ceres Solutions, he was able to raise $15,000.
“Most people have a heart to donate,” said Hall. “I’m so thankful for all that have helped to make this donation possible.”
